What To Do When Someone Dies
When a loved one dies in a public hospital, the family is notified and a medical death certificate is issued by the doctor.
If a death occurs in a nursing home or private hospital without mortuary facilities, the staff will arrange for a doctor to issue a certificate and transfer into the care of a Funeral Director can be provided.
In the event of a death at home, firstly contact the treating doctor (or police depending on the circumstances). The doctor will issue a medical death certificate or the police will arrange transfer to the Coroner.
Once you are aware of a loss, you can phone Olsens on (02) 9545 3477, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
