What To Expect From A Funeral Home
The first step in organising a funeral is to choose a Funeral Director who will be by your side in organising a truly unique funeral for your loved one.
Some helpful pointers when choosing a Funeral Director include:
- Select a Funeral Director who is an accredited member of the Selected Independent Funeral Homes and Australian Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) which require their members to honour a strict Code of Ethics and Practice.
- Talk to family members and friends about their own personal experiences. A referral from someone you trust is a great place to start.
- Decide whether you would prefer a family run, Australian owned Funeral Director or one that is part of a larger international network.
- A good Funeral Director should show they have a thorough understanding of the unique needs of the community in which they operate.
- You should feel comfortable in calling and asking questions and/or having a face-to-face meeting. Most reputable Funeral Directors have a 24 hour assistance hotline.
- Whether over the phone or face-to-face, the Funeral Arranger helping you to organise the funeral should give you confidence by demonstrating their professionalism, experience and compassion.
